Dr. Purnell obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi, before completing his Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. His area of focus includes ambulatory care.

A fun fact about Dr. Purnell is that he is a foodie who enjoys trying different restaurants to give his unofficial food review. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, occasionally traveling, and assisting his wife with maintaining their garden.
